The idea for this Civil Societies website formulated over several years. I researched the beginnings of Populism in America and the formation of the Patrons of Husbandry, otherwise known as the Grange. I am recovering from the non profit industrial complex. I learned more about the Zapatistas and how to listen and how to move as fast as the slowest.
The content on this site is continually developing in depth and breadth as my own knowledge grows, people point me to new resources and I receive feedback.
I am inspired by a Convival Research group that I participate in up here in Humboldt County, California. Collectively we meet to perpetuate the practice of producing knowledge at the community level. See the tab on the Convivial Ressearch Group.
